Hit and Run. No Insurance? Not so fast, my friend… - $500,000 Settlement

We had a client who was driving on Dixie Highway on her way to work early in the morning. As she was driving, another individual who had been out late was driving home. To be fair, the other driver wasn’t drunk, but he also wasn’t well-rested. Our client was minding her business, driving at a normal speed, when the other driver slammed into her head-on. The wreck was horrific. She ended up suffering severe injuries and had to be cut out of the car. The individual who hit her ran away and then came back with his mom (he’s 40). After the client contacted us, we reached out to the insurance company, who said that there was no coverage because the driver didn’t have permission to drive the car according to the mom. Well, that’s not how Kentucky law works. We fought for our client for years to get coverage established. After 4 years, we ended up settling her case for the policy limits of $500,000. We didn’t stop because the insurance company told us to; we kept going and fought for our client.
