When you send your child to school, you make a decision. Will you allow him or her to walk? Will you send your child on the bus? Will you drive him or her yourself? If you decide that the bus is the safest option, then you expect the driver to keep your child safe.
Children riding a bus should be safe, right? Unfortunately, that's not always the case. Drivers make mistakes, and when that happens, children get hurt. In those cases, parents have a right to pursue compensation to make sure that those responsible are held liable and that their children get what they need to recover.
In a sudden accident, multiple students were injured when their bus crashed on Dixie Highway. According to the Dec. 7 report, three Jefferson County Public School buses were involved in the crash.
Two of the bus drivers stopped for traffic when a third bus coming from behind collided with the tail end of the second in line. That resulted in the second bus hitting the first in line.
In total, 41 students had to be taken to hospitals for treatment. Their injuries were reportedly minor. None of the drivers were hurt, and any children who were unhurt were taken to school by a fourth bus. The local police blocked off traffic to avoid any further injuries.
Parents who have children hurt in crashes like this have a right to get answers about the drivers involved as well as to seek compensation. No child should get hurt due to distractions or negligence while driving.
