Boat Collision Draws Concerns from People in Kentucky, Ohio

Boating is a fun past-time that people enjoy throughout the late spring, summer and into the fall. Unfortunately, there are a number of hazards that can be waiting in the water. Some aren't even visible thanks to being underwater, which makes them particularly dangerous to boaters.

Hidden Boating Hazards in Ohio & Kentucky

Those hidden hazards are drawing concerns on the border of Ohio and Kentucky. Boaters in Ohio and Kentucky have become worried because of a serious accident in which a woman was killed on the Ohio River. According to the story from Aug. 22, the late-night accident occurred when the boat the woman was on allegedly struck a barge that was anchored in the river.

Police reported that they responded to the accident at around 10:45 p.m., close to the Limestone Clubhouse. They believe that the boat hit a barge that was in the river, which caused the driver of the boat to lose control of the vessel. The driver suffered severe injuries, and the 46-year-old passenger was killed.

Waterlogged Logs Causing Accidents

One of the major problems on the river is the number of waterlogged logs. These large obstacles can cause boaters to crash or sink due to puncturing their vessels. A large stump was seen in the river, which also poses a threat. By marking obstacles and hazards like these with reflectors or solar lights, it's possible that anyone boating at night would be able to see, and avoid, hitting them.

What to Do If You've Experienced a Crash

Boating is supposed to be relaxing and fun. If you're in a crash on the water and are hurt, you may be able to file a claim to have your medical expenses and other financial losses covered.
